Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Brown.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started? Thirty years ago, I had a dream of becoming a hairstylist, opening a boutique with a beauty salon, and adding a car detail shop. I’m from Oakland, CA, so we like to be flashy after getting suited up. My plan was to have a one-stop shop for everyone to enjoy. In 2020, with everything closed, I came up with several ideas for a retail business after seeing others trending on social media as small businesses. My daughter was bored with school being shut down, so she started making handmade and custom jewelry for her friends. I asked her if she would like to join me online in selling her custom-made and handmade jewelry, and she said yes. Together, we came up with the name LRGSPARADISEOFSTYLESLIAXJEWELS in honor of my beloved parents who are no longer here, and LIA is my daughter’s name.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?I used to post less on social media and realized that putting 100% into your business is crucial. I also came to understand that it’s important to follow trends that appeal to everyone, not just what I personally like. I made sure to post on all social media platforms to reach customers who are 18 years old and above.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?I have been working in the healthcare field for 30 years. I hold a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in health administration. I have also been working in education since 2011 and became a Professor in August 2017. My boutique business started online on April 7, 2021. I’m proud to have two smart and amazing children and to be the first in my immediate family to earn a master’s degree. What sets me apart from others is that I’m very outspoken and don’t care about how people feel about me.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out.Put your mind to whatever you want to do and trust in God first or in whomever your religious belief is. I wish I had started my business with a commercial ad.
